In 2023 I achieved a Distinction in the Advanced Certificate in Botanical Illustration at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. I chose to research and paint a cultivated geum, Scarlet Tempest. The aim of the course was to perfect skills in research, observation, and colour matching, as well as working effectively with tone and light. The final piece was executed in watercolour with a touch of gouache on Saunders Waterford paper.
